• How to select correct glasses?

Choosing frames that suite you can be very confusing especially when there are many options.  It is important to try different shapes and colors to see which style suites you. We at opticstoreonline.com will try and define how to select a correct frame that suites your personality.

First decide what type of frame material you would prefer Metal, Plastic or Rimless. Once you decide on the material you will need to decide on what type of frame you would prefer Full rim (metal rim that covers the whole lens), Semi-rimless (also referred to as a half rim frame. The rim covers half portion of the lens and the remaining half are supported by a plastic thread) or rimless (it has no rim that covers the lenses).

Once you decide on material and the frame type you will now need to determine the face shape. There are seven basic face shapes: Oval, diamond, round, square, triangle, inverted triangle and oblong:

Follow the steps listed below to determine the face shape:

1.        Take a front face picture.

2.        Draw six dots on the outline of your face in the picture.

·          Tow on each side of your temple or forehead

·          Two at the cheek bones

·          Two at the jaw line.

Recommended frame shape for your face structure:

To help you find the best suited frames following are the best recommendations:

For Oval face:

You are the leader of the pack. You can select any frame shape from the collection. Almost all frames will look good on your face.

For Diamond face:

Diamond face needs special attention as it is a rare shape Choose a frame with distinctive brow lines or detailing for a diamond shaped face. Choose softly curved frames that are no wider than your cheek bones. Rimless frames, cat eye frames and oval shapes also work well. Avoid decorative temple arm.

For Round face:

Rectangle frames are recommended this will make you face look less round. You can also try angular or narrow frames. Make sure to select a frame with thinner or clear bridge. Hinges located above the eye will help lengthen the face.

For square face:

Frames with more width than depth are the best option. Try angular frame style with curved corners like oval shape frames are recommended.

For Triangle face:

The goal is to add width to the forehead as it is the shortest of the three points. Try a frame which has an angular top like Cat eye, square or semi-rimless frames.

For Inverted Triangle Face:

The goal is to add width to the jaw line as it is the shortest of the three points. Try a frame that angles outwards at the bottom. Butterfly, aviator, rectangle or rimless frames are recommended.

For Oblong frame shape:

The goal is to make your face looks shorter and more proportionate. Select a frame which has a wider height than the width. Round, aviator, or geometric shapes with wider height are recommended.
